RNS - The joint venture of Sollers and Mazda on the assembly of Mazda vehicles in Vladivostok plans to start petrol engine production in mid-September 2018, as stated by the co-owner and the CEO of Sollers: Vadim Shvetsov in the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“We will start the production in mid-September. The launch will take 2-3 months: prototypes, tests etc.” - said Shvetsov, in reply to questions about the production of petrol engines for Mazda.
As explained by Shvetsov, the ramp up takes up to three months for engine plants. “We won’t push our limits. Not a single engine will be sold in Russia. All production is aimed for exports” - Shvetsov said.
Previously, the joint venture of Mazda and Sollers has obtained residential status in the Nadezhdinskaya Territory of Advanced Development (TAP) for the organisation of the production of Mazda SkyActiv-G engines.
The residential status in the TAP has enabled the joint venture to increase the amount of investment in the project from 2 billion to 3 billion rubles.
The annual engine production capacity of the project is 50,000 units.
