RusAutoNewsCom.- As reported by the company press office, the Asia Auto plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk in Kazakhstan has started the production of UAZ vehicles. The Russian brand has become the fifth car maker in the portfolio of the enterprise, following Lada, Skoda, Chevrolet and KIA. The largest Kazakh car manufacturer will make SKD-assembly of UAZ SUVs and LCVs, as an exclusive technological partner. As of mid-September 2018, the model range of the Russian brand will be on sale in the branches of Bipek Auto in 19 cities of Kazakhstan. Vehicles from Patriot and Hunter families and LCVs will be available in the Kazakh market.

The president of Asia Auto, Yerki Sagymbayev has made the following statement: “There’s a traditional demand for UAZ vehicles in Kazakhstan. We intend to meet the domestic demand in full for the trouble-free SUVs, which are capable of facing the harshest weather and road conditions. The localisation will provide the Kazakh customers with more profitable opportunities to buy UAZ models.”

There are currently more than 100,000 Russian brand automobiles on Kazakh roads. The annual sales figures of UAZ vehicles were approaching 5000 units mark in Kazakhstan, during the pre-crisis period of 2013-2014. Despite the market shrinkage, 1900 UAZ vehicles have been sold in the country in 2017, as a result of which the brand became the eighth bestseller in the country.
