AVTOVAZ expects a growth of around 10% in Russian car market

Finmarket.- Avtovaz foresees a growth of approximately 10% in Russian car market in 2019, and expects to keep its 20% share, as told by the executive vice-president of the company on sales and marketing Jan Ptacek, at a press conference in Moscow.

“I think we may predict a slight growth in the market this year, somewhere around 10%” – Ptacek said, adding that the results will depend on several factors. “The currency exchange rate and VAT increase may have an impact on growth, alongside many other factors, such as state support. Therefore, it’s hard to come up with an exact figure. However, we are of the opinion that the global trend will have an effect on the Russian car market as before, enabling a steady growth rate. There’s a need to renew the automobile fleet due to the growing economy and the consumer demand remains very high. In my opinion, the market will grow” – added the vice-president.

Ptacek did not reveal his prediction on the growth of Lada sales in 2019, however, indicated that the company intends to keep its market share at minimum level of 20%. “We think that the market will grow slightly, which means our sales will also increase at a certain level” – he said.

According to AEB data, the Russian car market has grown by 13% in 2018, with 1.8 million units. Lada sales have increased by 16% in Russia in 2018, to 360 thousand vehicles.
