Russian plant of Mercedes-Benz has released the first E-Class sedan series


 

RBK.- The first E-Class sedan series has rolled off the production lines of the Russian plant of Mercedes-Benz. As reported by the press office of the German brand, the automobiles, which are assembled in the Yesipovo plant in Greater Moscow, will be equipped with 9-speed automatic gearboxes and either 197 hp petrol or 194 hp diesel engines. The sedans made for the Russian market had successfully passed the crash tests in Germany. The vehicles have received the highest marks in passive safety from German engineers, as a result of the tests.

The production of GLC, GLE and GLS crossovers and SUVs will start in the Russian plant of Mercedes-Benz in the near future. The Mercedes vehicles will be manufactured in full-cycle in Russia. The facility will have a body and a paint shop.

The factory has been built on an 85 hectares area in the Esipovo Industrial Park, 40 km northwest of Moscow. The manufacturer will make an investment of more than 19 billion rubles for the localisation of production in Russia, within the framework of the Special Investment Contract (SPIC). The construction of the actual facility took less than 2 years. The annual production capacity of the enterprise will be 20-25,000 vehicles. Approximately 1000 jobs will be created in the enterprise, once the project capacity is reached.
