Renault Russia has presented its Logan CNG prototype in St Petersburg

RusAutoNewsCom.- Renault Logan CNG urban sedan has been presented in St Petersburg, as reported by the company press office. The vehicle has been built on the basis of the mass production Life configuration model with 1.6 litres engine, paired with a mechanical transmission. This model is in high demand with the transport sector, with the possibility to shift to gas in order to reduce costs, therefore being chosen for the preparation of the prototype.

The CNG version allows the usage of two types of fuel: petrol and compressed methane. The engine starts on petrol, switching to methane gas automatically. The engine shifts back to petrol when the gas runs out.

The main advantage of the CNG version is on fuel efficiency, not only reducing the costs significantly, up to three times when running on methane, but also increasing the power reserve.

Renault Logan equipped with CNG is the first prototype of such automobiles to be mass produced in the country and the participation of Renault Russia in the largest industry event will help the company assess the demand in the vehicles and the future prospects of this project in the Russian market.

Renault Logan CNG is a joint product of Renault Russia and ATS Group of Companies, which is a key partner of Avtovaz on Lada CNG car projects.
