RusAutoNewsCom.- A ceremony has been held in St Petersburg marking the beginning of the construction of the Russian engine factory of Hyundai WIA, as reported by the press office of the company.
As emphasised by the general director of the car plant during the ceremony: “We are currently importing their engines. We are glad to have the opportunity to increase our localisation rate thanks to the opening of the new plant and shift to the installation of Russian-made engines at the end of next year”.
In turn, the general director of Hyundai WIA Rus has stated that the Russian plant will make a high-quality contemporary production, complying with all international standards”.
As part of the ceremony, the governor of St Petersburg Alexander Beglov and the general director of Hyundai WIA Rus O Singhun have signed a liaison agreement, as a guideline for the implementation of the project by the city government and the investor.
The engine plant is situated at a close proximity from the Hyundai car factory. The production line of the new enterprise will be launched in October 2021. Approximately 13.1 billion rubles will be invested in the construction of the factory. In terms of investment amount, it’s possible to consider the project amongst the largest in the sector in Russia in recent years. The total construction area exceeds 36,000 m2. The new enterprise will create more than 500 jobs.
