AURUS has announced the production launch time of Komendant SUV

RBK.- The mass production of Komendant SUV will start at the Alabuga plant of the company in spring 2020. The relevant statement has been made by the head of Aurus Adil Shirinov, during an interview with RBK.

“The production process of the upcoming SUV is currently being organised alongside the sedan model, since the construction and the technical features of the vehicles are interconnected. One must also bear in mind that the sedan and the SUV share “common parts” or in other words, components that apply to both models. Therefore, it can be said that they have a parallel manufacturing process, accompanying each other. However, a certain period of time is needed to debug all processes of each model according to the principles of the modern automobile industry, so there will be an interval between the start of the mass production of Senat and Komendant models. In my opinion, there will be a gap of 18 months (the production of Komendant is planned to be launched in spring 2022)” – as explained by Shirinov.

As announced previously, Aurus has arranged the certification of the Komendant SUV for the end of 2021. The Russian brand planned to present the SUV at the Moscow International Motor-Show last autumn, however, the event was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Judging by the spy photographs from Russian and European test sites, Aurus SUV is currently at the stage of road tests. In particular, the SUV was spotted north of Sweden at the beginning of the year.

As stated earlier, Komendant SUV will be equipped with a hybrid power plant, exactly the same as the Senat government limousine. The hybrid system will consist of a 4.4 litres V8 supercharged petrol engine and a small electric motor. The total output is 600 litres and an 880 Nm torque. It’s also known that the Aurus Komendant will be equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
