Chinese Wuling has presented the new Journey pickup, similar to UAZ

Wuling brand, owned by the Chinese group SAIC, has presented the first images of the new Journey pickup, which is very similar to UAZ Pickup. The similarity, however, ends in visuality, since the two vehicles are completely different to each other in terms of technicality and size.

The new pickup is 5105 mm long, 1640 mm wide and 1810 mm high and the distance between its axles is 3160 mm. As indicated by the dimensions, Journey is 20 mm shorter, 245 mm narrower and 105 mm lower than its UAZ twin.

In addition to all, the Chinese pickup is more economical, burning only 7 litre fuel per 100 km (in a mixed cycle), as opposed to 12.8 litre used by the Russian UAZ. The difference is down to the 1.5 litre, 99 hp naturally aspirated engine, being inferior to the ZMZ plant unit, in terms of both volume and power.

Although the prices and the release date of Wuling Journey pickup have not been revealed for Russia yet, the launch of the vehicle will soon take place in China in a number of versions, with decorative roof strips, additional optics, shelter and external protective body kit. Journey will also receive a large selection of branded accessories and a set of bright body colours, the surcharge amount for which will be announced nearer to the debut of the model in the Chinese market.
