Almost a third of Russian car purchases on credit have been made under car loan programmes

Rossiyskaya Gazeta.- Russian citizens have purchased 640,000 automobiles on credits in 2020, almost a third of the transactions taking place within the framework of preferential car loan programmes. The relevant statement has been made by the general director of the Autostat analytical agency: Sergei Tselikov.

“We received a figure of 640 thousand units, based on our own information and the data provided by the banks. The figure points out to a 9% year-on-year shrinkage in the market, which correlates with the dynamics of the overall car sales. The loans have gone down, at the same rate with the sales” – as told by the head of Autostat.

According to Tselikov, 44% of all vehicle sales in the market have been made on credit. In the meantime, referring to the data of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Sergei Tselikov has stated that 200,000 automobiles have been sold through the current preferential car loan programmes, such as; the First Car and the Family Car, amongst others.
