Inflation has become one of the main reasons behind the rising car prices in Russia in 2021

Avtonovostidnya.- Car prices continue to rise in Russia. The prices of new vehicles have increased by 5-10% during the last six months. Moreover, the prices of secondhand cars have gone up by such an extent that a used car costs almost the same as a new vehicle at the moment.

According to a study by the Avilon Group of Companies, inflation is one of the main reasons behind the price increase, alongside the fluctuation in exchange rates and the shortage of vehicles. The global shortage of semiconductors has also aggravated the situation, causing the car factories to either suspend or slow down production. As a result, the manufacturers had to limit the configurations, temporarily depriving the customers of some popular options.

The price increase hit the FIAT models the hardest: Ducato by 8.5-8.7% and Doblo by 9.6-13.2%. Korean brands Hyundai and KIA have increased prices by 5-10%, Volkswagen by 5-9% and Mitsubishi by 1-5%. Price rises affected Volvo models between 5-10%, Jeep 7% and Chevrolet and Cadillac by approximately 5-7%. Finally, MINI has added 5%, Mercedes-Benz 2% and BMW between 7-9% on top of their price tags.
