Prime.- Car deficit at dealer centres will continue into the first quarter of 2022 in Russia. Such an acute shortage has not been experienced in the country for many years, as told by the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers to RIA Novosti.
“The continuation of the deficit into the first quarter of 2022 is inevitable. As discussed in the forum, the car manufacturers agree on the fact that such a deficit has not been experienced for many years. The sales have been on the decline for consecutive months and unfortunately, a recovery doesn’t seem likely in spring,” – as told by the Association.
The dealers raised their voices about the car deficit for the first time in August 2020. The decline in production and supply due to the global shortage of car electronics is one of the main reasons behind the complication of the circumstances.
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Commerce is of the opinion that the problems due to the global shortage of electronic components for the automotive industry will not be completely solved in 2022, however, the situation may stabilise.
According to the Association of European Businesses – AEB data, the new car sales in Russia have been shrinking since July 2021 and a total number of 1.4 million vehicles have been sold within the first 11 months of 2021 (+6.9%). As calculated by Autostat analytical agency, the new automobile prices have gone up by 17% on average in Russia in 2021, to 1.96 million rubles.
