RusAutoNews.Com – Lada sales went up by approximately 22% in Russia in May, up to nearly 25,100 units and 10.5% by the end of the first five months of the year to 112,800 vehicles, as told by an AVTOVAZ representative.
Lada sales have been on the rise in the Russian market (year-on-year) since July 2016 (whole market – since March 2017) and the increase in May has been at a record rate for the brand. The sales remained below the April figures due to holidays (by 4.7%), however, the difference is considerably less, compared to 2016 (16.4%).
Continuing government support will be one of the driving forces in the following months, as noted by the company representative. Additional specific programmes, such as: First Automobile, Family Car etc. are expected to be implemented. Lada sales will help the launch of Vesta estate and its cross-version to the market, which will be manufactured at the Izhevsk plant of the group.
Lada sales may amount to 280-300,000 units in 2017 (up by 13%) and the market is expected to reach 1.45-1.5 million vehicles (5% rise), as told by the chairman of AVTOVAZ Nicolas Maure in March.
