AVTOVAZ has started the sales of LADA in Chile

RusAutoNews.Com – AVTOVAZ has started the official sales of LADA in Chile, which is the third largest car market in South America in terms of sales volumes (370,000 in 2017). As written in Auto Review magazine, this is the fourth attempt made by the car giant from Togliatti to conquer the Chilean market: the first three go back to the end of 70’s, 1982 and 1988. However, the sales ended completely 20 years ago, in 1998.

The distribution of LADA in Chile is organised by the new company: Lada Chile. Three galleries have already opened in Santiago, Punta Arenas and Coyhaique and the fourth one is on the way in Rancagua. The customers will be offered four models certified in Chile. Interestingly, Vesta is not amongst the models. The following models will be available in the Chilean market: Kalina Cross estate, Granta sedan, Largus van (all 106 hp vehicles will be equipped with 1.6 lt engines) and of course the classic Lada Niva 4×4 (83 hp), well-known to Chileans.

The plans for the Chilean Lada are modest for the moment: the importer plans to sell 600 vehicles this year, going up to 1500 in future. However, competition seems to be in the horizon. Despite bold plans to open 20 dealer centres of LADA in Chile in three years time, the new Niva-3, which is supposed to be manufactured right next door in Brazil may appear on the market by that time.
