RIA.- Volkswagen Group Rus Kaluga plant has notified the regional authorities of upcoming reduction in staff numbers by 79 people from June onwards, due to the sharp decline in demand in Russian automobile market as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to the statement made by the Kaluga Region Ministry of Labour and Social Security on Tuesday.
A representative of the regional government has provided RIA Novosti with the relevant statement, according to which, Volkswagen Group Rus will carry on with operations for the moment. According to official figures, the company has declared work stoppage for 50 employees. Within the framework of the introduced restrictive measures, 339 staff members continue to work in remote mode.
Meanwhile, the employer is conducting negotiations with the employees on the termination of employment contracts by mutual agreement with payment of compensation. The procedure of staff layoffs is planned to start in June.
The authorities have emphasised that the regional recruitment services are ready to take steps in facilitating the re-employment of the dismissed workers.
