TASS.- Automobiles, which are not equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system within the framework of the decision of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission – EEC, will begin to be installed with this system as of January 2022, as reported in a press release made by Rosstandard.
“The active phase of ERA GLONASS installation on vehicles will start in January 2022. By that time, all car manufacturers will have submitted the final reports on automobiles with VIN numbers, which will be published on the Rossandart website” – according to the statement made by the department.
Car owners will definitely receive information on the obligation to install additional equipment during the purchase and operation stages of vehicles. The information will also be included in the electronic passport system of the transport vehicles.
“All measures within the scope of the recall campaign will be carried out at the expense of the manufacturer, in accordance with the Federal Law on Technical Regulation. These transactions will be free of charge for car owners” – according to the press release.
Car manufacturers will be liable to submit the relevant programmes for the approval of Rosstandard within 10 days from the beginning of the implementation of the mechanism.
As reported by Kommersant nwespaper previously, the board of EEC decided to give extra time to caf manufacturers to equip the vehicles with the ERA-GLONASS system, extending the period till the end of the year, due to the insufficiency of components, manufactured within the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union. In the meantime, the equipment process of the vehicles with the system needs to be completed by 30 June 2022.
