Russian car market has decreased by 6.5% in July 2021

RusAutoNewsCom. – As announced by the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, Russian car market has decreased by 6.5%, or by 9,284 units year-on-year in July 2021, and amounted to 132,640 vehicles.

Within the January – July period of this year 953,760 cars were sold in total, 211,079 units or 28.4% more then last year’s figure.

Thomas Staertzel, Chairman of the committee has commented: “As stated in the June press-release, we experienced this month a slight market downturn year-on-year. In July 2021, 132,640 passenger cars and LCVs were sold which is 6.5% less than the strong July 2020, after the lift of pandemic restrictions. In January-July 2021, 953,760 cars were sold which is still a 28.4% increase in comparison with the same period of previous year. The next months will show further corrections linked to limiting effects of worldwide production cuts following the shortage of electronic components.”

Lada was the most popular brand of the Russian car market in July with 32,013 units sold, followed by Kia with 17,071 units and Hyundai with 13,383 units. Lada Granta was the most popular car model in July with 10,885 units sold.
